LOCAL RULES FOR VILLAMARTIN  GOLF CLUB                                                    01.11.2023


 

Dress Code 

It is expected that all Players observe the Club dress Code which is clearly displayed at the Caddy Masters Office, in the Changing Rooms and on the Notice board.

Such illustrations are to be regarded as sensible guidelines in order to achieve acceptable general dress standards at all times; Players may be requested to leave the course if this standard is not maintained.

On Course Behaviour

1. To follow all directing signs ensuring that buggies and trolleys are kept well away from tees, greens, ropes, lines and other sensitive course areas.

2. Slow players or players in difficulty must call the following games through to keep up with the game in front.

3. To rake all bunkers thoroughly upon exit.

4. Replace all divots.

5. Repair pitch marks on greens.

 

Local Rules Applicable from 01 November 2023

All Rules of Golf apply as well as these Local Rules

 

OUT OF BOUNDS. Over white stakes, boundary walls, fences, hedges, practice areas and workshops (Rule 18.2)

PENALTY AREAS  All Penalty Areas  are marked by yellow or red stakes (Rule 17)

IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS. All artificial roads and paths, (with the exception of the 10th fairway which is a Penalty Area) drainage grills, steps, permanent buildings and internal walls are treated as immovable obstructions from which a free drop is allowed (Rule 16.1)  The player also has these extra options to take relief when immovable obstructions such as sprinkler heads are close to the putting green and on the line of play:

a.Within two club lengths of the putting green and

b.Within two club lengths of the ball.

c.Exception: There is no relief if line of play is clearly unreasonable. 

INTEGRAL PARTS OF THE COURSE Culverts, bridge supports, boundary walls, fences and hedges; a ball must be played as it lies or declared unplayable under penalty of one stroke (Rule 16.1).

1st, 2nd and 7th HOLES BOUNDARY FENCES.  A ball coming to rest beyond any boundary fences along the road running through the course by the 2nd fairway is out of bounds.

2nd HOLE BOUNDARY FENCE. Ground alongside the fence on the left hand side of the hole is marked as Ground Under Repair and the player is entitled to a free drop, one club length from the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole (Rule 16.1)

STAKED TREES.  If a Players ball lies anywhere on the course, other than in a penalty area and it touches such a tree or such a tree interferes with the players stance or area of intended swing, the Player must take relief, without penalty (Rule 16.1)

DROPPING ZONES. (15th and 17th holes) 15th For the pond behind the green only (as an additional option) a Drop Zone is provided to the Right of the pond.  17th If a ball is lost from tee to green or found and defined unplayable, the player may as an additional option drop a ball (under penalty of one stroke) in the Drop Zone near to the bridge.

BUNKERS. Crevices in the bunkers formed by running water damage is considered an Abnormal Course Condition, free drop allowed within the bunker (Rule 16.1c) Drop under One shot penalty outside the bunker.

PREFERRED LIES  To promote fair play in adverse conditions a "Competition Committee" may apply Preferred Lies. The Committee shall then, in detail, define where and how this is available.

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULES. Match Play - Loss of hole: Stroke Play - 2 strokes.
